Connor moved up to the Junior 1 two-cycle class in 2003. This class of 8-11 year old racers runs at 225 lbs in Cadet size karts. These are bigger than a Kid Kart yet smaller than a full size kart. Power comes from a blueprinted 100cc Yamaha 2-cycle engine. These engines run a small Walbro WA55 carburetor and a four hole can exhaust. Top speed varies depending on the track but is in excess of 50 miles per hour. The highlight of Connor's season was winning Junior Rookie of the Year of the North Texas Karters Club. Connor finished Fourth overall in North Texas Karters for season points and was fifth in points in KART regionals. Connor competed against 17 other drivers in North Texas Karters and 20 other drivers in the KART regional series.
